What’s a typical day like?

Imagine the Customer Experience team receives a phone call from a customer who needs quality specialty tooling and equipment to complete a job.  They needed it yesterday.  Every hour that production is down costs the customer $100,000 or more.  If they can’t get the tooling and equipment they need, they lose a lot of money.  They are counting on Elliott to provide the best solution.  Can we deliver?

As the Shipping and Receiving Specialist, you receive a phone call from Sales.  They’ve just entered a large order of 20 items with different quantities that require special packaging.  They want to verify that available parts are in stock and want the order to go next-day air.  It’s 4:30pm.  UPS picks up at 5pm.

You pull the Shipping Picklist and quickly discover that a flush collar is out of stock, but you know there’s one available on a setup that is not due to ship out for a few weeks.  You un-issue the part so that it becomes available for the order that is due to ship today.  You work with two other team members to package the order, verifying accuracy at each step against the Shipping Picklist.

You follow up with the Customer Experience team to inform them that the shipment is complete and will be going out today.  You also provide the tracking information to them so they can relay it to the customer with a promise of on-time delivery.

Everything ships the same day. The customer receives the tooling and equipment the next day and gets their operation up and running again.

The next morning, the customer calls in to express their gratitude. The Customer Experience Manager shares this success with the rest of the team and stops by to personally thank you for helping the team deliver for the customer.

The customer is so impressed with the quality of the tooling and the service they received that they begin referring their co-workers from other locations to you which leads to new opportunities.

Every day you will be doing work that really matters. You will be helping customers solve their business challenges. You will have an opportunity to do your best work and make a real impact.
