What’s a typical day like?

As the Engineering Order Team Lead, you start your day meeting with the Engineering Team and leading the daily huddle to review open Engineering Orders (EO’s) and develop a plan of action for the day.

During the huddle, you learn that Operations has requested a change to a print in order to manufacture a product feature using an alternate manufacturing method. After the huddle, you meet with the Product Engineer who created the print to gain some additional insight on the critical features of their design.

Armed with this information, you meet with the Manufacturing Technician making the request to determine what clarifying notes should be added to the engineering drawing that will allow the product to be manufactured using this newly devised process, while maintaining the original intent of the design.

Next you begin reviewing new Engineering Orders (EO’s) and determine that Sales has submitted multiple requests for the Engineering department to fulfill. You contact the Customer Experience Manager to schedule a meeting and reach consensus on which requests are most urgent so that they can be prioritized accordingly.

Later in the day, Sales receives a $50,000 order that requires several new part numbers to be set up so the order can be entered. You recruit the help of a Mechanical Designer within the Department to complete prints and set up the new parts in the ERP system, which allows Sales to complete the order entry process and ship product to the customer in the same day.

The customer is so thrilled with Elliott’s products and service, they refer another location to purchase from Elliott resulting in an additional revenue stream

Every day you will be doing work that really matters. As the Engineering Order Team Lead, you’ll be helping customers solve their business challenges through your exceptional designs.
