CNC Machinist – Afternoon Shift
Drive Innovation. Solve Real Problems. Make an Impact.
Elliott Tool Technologies is hiring CNC Machinists for our afternoon shift, now offering a $4.00/hour shift premium. Whether you bring a background in machining, or you have strong mechanical aptitude and the drive to learn the craft, we want to hear from you. We are committed to training the right candidate, even with no prior machining experience. Our machinists create precision components essential to industries ranging from automotive to aerospace, work that truly matters.
Why Choose Elliott Tool?
- Shift Premium: Earn an additional $4.00 per hour afternoon shift premium.
- Growth & Stability: A profitable, 135-year-old company with a 9-year average employee tenure. We aren’t going anywhere.
- Development: Comprehensive training and hands-on mentorship — we have a track record of developing skilled machinists from the ground up, with real opportunities to grow your skills and career.
- Our Culture: Our values define our culture and guide our actions. We engage with customers and teammates to fully understand their needs. We rally our resources to deliver “count on us” service. We perform with excellence, continuously improving our processes and systems. We are driven to achieve our goals, even when the path is challenging or unclear.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with team members to manufacture high-precision components.
- Plan sequences of operations by studying blueprints, CAD files, sketches, and engineering models.
- Set up and operate precision machining equipment in your area of expertise — traditional lathes (Okuma), EDM wire machines (Mitsubishi MV1200, FX, RA series), or OD grinding equipment.
- Inspect parts to exact tolerances and finishes using micrometers, optical comparators, and other precision measuring devices.
- Cross-train across machining areas to broaden your skills and support the broader Elliott team.
What’s a typical day like?
A high-priority order lands on your queue — tight tolerances, expensive material, no margin for error. You review the blueprints, set up your machine, and nail the first-piece inspection. When a minor issue arises mid-run, you troubleshoot quickly and keep production on track. By the end of your shift, every component passes final inspection. The parts ship on time, and the customer comes back. At Elliott, you aren’t just running a machine — you are solving real business challenges and making a direct impact every day.
What We’re Looking For:
- Aptitude & Attitude: Experience with traditional manual lathe, EDM, or OD/ID grinding is a plus, but not required. If you have strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn, we will train you.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with precision measuring tools and the ability to read complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or apprenticeship training is a plus.
- Locally Based: Within a 45-minute commute of Dayton, OH.
- Team-Oriented: Teachable, respectful, and focused on delivering results for your team and the customer, not just yourself.
- Results-Driven: You take ownership of your quality, keep your commitments, and consistently deliver.
